Physicians invited to clinic Day at the Capitol
MINNEAPOLIS, February 25, 2010 - The Minnesota Medical Group Management Association is opening up its “Day at the Capitol” on Tuesday, March 2 from 7:45 to 11:30 a.m. to MMA members who would like to participate.
The MMGMA and MMA have many issues in common, thus joint meetings with legislators (already scheduled) are very accessible. To register, please contact the MMGMA office at (952) 928-4644 and ask for Sara Jensen. To learn more, click here. The MMA is also offering MMA members a personalized Day at the Capitol, with three options to choose from:
Your Personal Day at the Capitol
While the Legislature is in session, you can schedule your own personalized visit on your own timetable. During your Capitol Rounds, you'll have the chance to meet with your local legislators, view hearings and floor sessions. You can also ask the MMA’s advocacy team what really happens behind the scenes. Just by being at the Capitol at the right time, you may make the difference on a key issue.
Your Clinic/Specialty Group Day at the Capitol
This has all the benefits of a personal visit, with the addition of your colleagues! With a larger group, you can have an even greater impact with legislators. The MMA will even add a legislative briefing for your group on the day you arrive for your meetings. The MMA Medical Student Section and the Mayo Pediatric Residents took advantage of this option in 2009 with great success
In-District Meeting
Many physicians cannot find the time to meet with legislators at the Capitol, but still desire the face-to-face discussion during the Legislative Session. The MMA will set up a coffee meeting before or after work in your (and your legislator’s) home district to save time.
New Resource: TheMMA has a Legislative Toolkit for your use at the Capitol or in your home district when meeting with legislators. Take look at what we have to offer.
If one of these options appeals to you and your staff, feel free to contact Dennis Gerhardstein at dgerhardstein@mnmed.org and he will set it up for you.
