The MMA is committed to providing physicians information and resources to help them fight the H1N1 influenza virus.
The Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) is tracking H1N1 throughout the state by monitoring both hospitalized cases and deaths associated with influenza-like illness. It is also engaged in Influenza-Like Illness (ILI) surveillance at certain sentinel sites, such as outpatient clinics.
MDH has also set up a site specifically for health professionals, which provides case definitions, criteria for testing at the MDH Public Health Laboratory, state reporting guidelines, and information about Minnesota Asset Cache Distribution (MNACache).
Minnesota’s first batch of H1N1 vaccinations began arriving the first week of October. A pre-registration process was established to allow physicians to sign up in advance to receive it.
