Welcome!
MMAA President message for website
Join us as we begin our 89th year as an organized Minnesota Medical Association Alliance (MMAA). We partner with physicians to promote the good health of Minnesota and the family of medicine. The purposes of our organization are:
- To assist in those programs which improve the health and quality of life for all people.
- To promote health education projects
- To encourage participation of volunteers in activities that meet community health needs
- To support health-related charitable endeavors
- To advocate for the profession of medicine and improve access to all.
The Alliance provides spouses / partners of physicians, medical students, residents a unique opportunity to come together to share the uniqueness of being in a medical family. As members of a medical family we understand each other’s needs better than any other organization.
One of our major goals for this upcoming year is to provide tools for our members to keep them informed regarding the legislative processes facing today’s healthcare environment. Join us as we positively impact legislation and public policy. Become informed through resources provided by MMA and MMAA. As a member you will have access to those issues important to practice and those that affect the healthcare provided in your community. The MMAA provides notification to members through legislative alerts from MMA and AMA.
The Minnesota Medical Association Alliance is also very active in the development and promotion of heath education resources that can be used in outreach projects in our communities at no charge (some shipping charges may apply). Please review this area of our website for more information.
MMAA members are available to provide health literacy training to health professionals around the state. Millions of American adults are affected by literacy issues: the ability to obtain and understand basic health information and the health care services needed and /or the ability to follow instructions for treatment. This lack of health literacy may lead to liability issues for physicians as well as poor medical outcomes for patients. Call us if you want a program brought to your community.
We partner with county alliances, local medical societies, Minnesota Medical Association, American Medical Association Alliance and the American Medical Association. It is true that together we can make a difference.
We invite all physician spouses/partners to join. You too can belong to this “Family of Medicine” and help us make a difference in your communities. We need you and your talents, ideas and support. Visit our MMAA website (www.mmaonline.net) for more information and membership registration. To learn more about the Minnesota Medical Association Alliance and its county alliances, please call Vicki Westling at 1-800-342-5662, ext 764.
