The Committee on Ethics and Medical-Legal Affairs is responsible for issues that deal with the legal, ethical and moral aspects of medical practice, including the range of issues involved in data privacy and medical records.

The committee acts as a liaison between the legal profession and the state body responsible for the competency and discipline of physicians (Board of Medical Practice), and, when appropriate, assists with communication between physicians and patients.
